| GENERAL HELP How does e-english work? The main objective for e-english is to establish a large database of people wanting to learn and teach English worldwide. In order to take advantage of the site you will first need to create a profile of yourself either as a teacher or learner of English. To do this you will need to enter details of your teaching methods (if you are a teacher) or your learning aims (if you are a learner). How much does it cost to use e-english? E-english has two types of service: 1) Standard Service (free) Our standard service is free for both teachers and learners. Those using this service will be able to register and put all their details onto the e-english database, thereby creating the potential for either teachers or learners to contact them. If contacted, those using our basic service will be able to respond to the message sent to them. Those using this service will only be able to respond to messages sent to them, they will not be able to send new messages. It should be noted that all those that put their details on e-english will be monitored and if deemed as unsuitable for the site will be removed without warning. We therefore recommend that your details are comprehensive and appropriate for the site. 2) Membership Service (10 Euros) To use the membership service, teachers and learners will need to pay a nominal fee of 10 Euros which will allow them to not only respond to messages but also send new messages to as many teachers or learners as they wish over a 1 year period. The reason this fee has been introduced is to: 1) reduce misuse of the site for purposes other than the organisation of English lessons 2) create a clear indication of those who are serious with regards to teaching and learning English and in particular giving reassurance to teachers that a learner has the ability to pay for lessons. Once contact has been made and an agreement has been established between the teacher and learner, with regards to the number, type and cost of lessons, the learning and teaching of English can begin. Teaching Methods We envisage that there will be two main types of teaching medium: 1) Face to Face We believe that the e-english database is very useful for both teachers and learners who want to teach and learn face to face. By registering yourself either as a teacher or a learner on the site you are able to market yourself in your local area either as a teacher or a learner. 2) Via the internet For those who do not live near an English teacher or simply prefer it, the internet is increasingly becoming a medium through which language lessons can be taught. There are a number of methods that can be used including email, instant messaging, internet telephony or web cam. For the purposes of language learning we believe that a combination of these methods is the best approach thereby improving both written and verbal skills. The minimum requirements to undertake lessons via the internet is a broadband connection and headset. The market leader in terms of internet telephony is a company called skype which provides a simple and small downloadable program that allows free internet calls to anywhere in the world at any time.
