Adjectives
Listen here: Adjectives are used to describe nouns. In English the adjective normally goes in front of the noun. For example:
big (adjective) house (noun) In English the adjective does not change even if the noun is plural. For example:
expensive car If there are two adjectives in front of the noun it can be difficult to know which order they should be in. A good rule to remember is that if the adjective is a matter of opinion then it goes first. For example: beautiful yellow flower Nobody can argue that the flower is not yellow but someone might think that the flower is not beautiful. A good exercise with adjectives is to describe a picture. Try to choose a picture that has a lot of different objects in it so that you can create lots of interesting sentences. Once you have chosen the picture try to describe it using lots of different adjectives. . Once you have completed that exercise try to fill in some of the adjectives in the sentences below. Remember adjectives in English normally go in front of the noun but not always.
